The sales assistant is honestly annoying. Can't browse the perfumes without them insisting on spraying the tester strips for me. Just leave me alone, I can do it myself.

Do not expect to invest in their ill-mannered customer service at British Essential! I anticipated being an individual who encountered judgemental gazes of their staff members upon entering and leaving the ‘value’ store countless times. It adds to an unpleasant shopping experience. The assistants seem brash over their products when I approached a bob-haired lady with distinct lipstick for recommendations about a particular merchandise. They will hover close to you which is pressuring in the confined store. I believe their vibes are negatively influenced following the lack of proper ethics at work which is absurd for employees. I would prefer to browse in peace than to live off these chatty, annoying and sarcastic salesgirls. Moreover, they are familiar with glancing at shoppers like hawks as if we are ransacking the store. I wish I could provide zero stars for my genuine review. I recommend viewers support their opposer instead.

Other than the merchandise being cheaper the general shopping experience at this store isn't a pleasant one.
When you stepped into the store, the staff stares at you (rather judgementally) as if you're gonna lift something off their shelves or do something funny. They will also hover close to you which makes it pressuring for you to browse their assortment in the already tight and confined space.

I have been visiting British Essentials as the items sold in stores are slightly more affordable than other places like Watsons and Guardian.
Other than the above, nothing else is good. The staff members are awful. I read that a reviewer mentioned that they give judgmental looks and I agree. One staff member approaches me immediately once I enter the store and the feeling is not pleasant as she is not out to help me sincerely but to push her products in which, I believe, she gets (more) commission from. Her manner is brash and unpleasant. Her vibes are negative. I would rather be left in peace to browse and shop than to swat off these annoying salesgirls. I know that they are, perhaps, trying to do their job and that, perhaps, it is their sales protocol but it is highly irritating and it makes me (the shopper) very uneasy.
I hope that the staff members will undergo better training in sales and in assisting shoppers.
Often, the staff members also chit-chat loudly as they observe the shoppers in store like hawks as if shoppers are thieves.
If not for the more affordable items, I will not shop at BE.

Store carries a decent range of products at good prices. But the shopping experience is really uncomfortable
Each time I enter the shop, the staff will follow like a hawk, asking if I need help, and giving us a dirty look if i said i was just looking around. I am actually quite interested in looking through what products they have but it’s really uncomfortable being started at like a potential shoplifter.
No matter which area I walk to, the staff will follow close behind. And for this small shop, they have at least 3-4 staff, so be sure to be stalked at all time.
Can never spend more than 2-3 minutes in there, have to buy what I want to and get out asap.
I wish they can review their customer service, I believe the store earnings can be much higher if the staff can just let us shop in peace

I frequently shop at British Essentials. It's one of my favourite shops at Jurong point as I enjoy getting their very affordably priced products. The shop assistants are friendly and helpful and usually when I enter the shop, they'd check if I needed help. If I decline their help, they would leave me to shop in peace. I've enjoyed all my numerous experiences here and definitely love the savings I get here. I usually buy skincare, sanitary essentials, hair products and perfumes from them.
