A Day of Joy and Connection: Seniors Embrace Active Generations at Jurong Point
Recently, Jurong Point had the privilege of hosting 20 vibrant seniors from SASCO@Khatib for a truly heartwarming event: the "Cycling Without Age – Active Generations" programme. This initiative, made possible with the generous support of Link Together Initiatives, was a beautiful tapestry woven with smiles, rediscovered stories, and cherished shared memories, demonstrating the power of community engagement.
A Morning of Nostalgia and Creativity
The day began on a delightful note with a nostalgic breakfast spread at the Kopitiam Food Hall, setting a warm and familiar tone. Following this, the seniors unleashed their inner artists in an engaging tote bag painting session. What made this activity even more special was the feature of artwork by renowned muralist Yuen Kum Cheong, adding a touch of local artistry to their creations.
Pedaling Through Memories and Green Spaces
As the morning progressed, conversations flowed freely, with seniors sharing cherished anecdotes from their youth, reminiscing about classic games like 'tikam-tikam' and the simple joy of 'ice balls'. These poignant moments of reflection beautifully segued into the highlight of the day: scenic trishaw rides to the serene Jurong Central Park. Thanks to the wonderful team at Cycling Without Age Singapore, the seniors experienced the joy of fresh air and picturesque surroundings, making new memories while revisiting old ones.
The memorable day concluded on a sweet and satisfying note with a delicious lunch and traditional chendol at Sampanman, providing the perfect opportunity for reflection and camaraderie.
